OnTrac surpassed their company goal of donating 5,000 cans of food to the 10th annual 102.5 KNIX Million Can Crusade. The Valley’s biggest canned food drive supports St. Vincent de Paul in their efforts to feed hungry families this holiday season across the greater Phoenix area. In addition to the canned food donation from OnTrac, the logistics company also donated $1,500 at the event kickoff, which is equivalent to 15,000 cans of food. In total, OnTrac donated 24,192 cans of food.

In time for Thanksgiving, 102.5 KNIX announced on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 that the goal of collecting one million cans was reached. A grand total of 2,376,063 cans were donated and will fill St. Vincent de Paul’s community food pantries. “All of us at St. Vincent de Paul are so blessed to have partners like OnTrac that allow us to help so many people in our community, especially during the holiday season,” says Shannon Clancy, associate executive director and chief philanthropy officer from St. Vincent de Paul. “Each dollar and can of food donated not only provides hungry families with the food they need, but also lets them know that they are not alone in their moment of need. We are grateful to our friends at OnTrac who demonstrate the kindness, love and generosity of this community that cares. Thank you, OnTrac, for all that you make possible for those in need all year long.”

OnTrac Donates $1,500 to the 10th Annual 102.5 KNIX Million Can Crusade

OnTrac joins the 10th annual 102.5 KNIX Million Can Crusade kickoff event with a check for a $1,500 donation to St. Vincent de Paul, which is equivalent to 15,000 cans of food. The Million Can Crusade, in its tenth year, has received support from OnTrac for seven consecutive years since 2011. The goal for 2017, as it has been every year, is to collect one million cans of non-perishable food for St. Vincent de Paul to feed hungry families during the holiday season.

In previous years, OnTrac has contributed to the one million canned food goal by creating a friendly competition among employees at the corporate office in Chandler, Arizona. This year, OnTrac is expanding the competition to include the two Valley facilities in Phoenix. If at least 5,000 cans are collected by OnTrac, the employees will be rewarded with an office celebration for all three Valley locations. The department with the most cans collected will receive the Golden Can Award. Last year, the corporate office alone collected 6,323 cans of food plus a monetary donation of $1,500, which equaled over 20,000 cans of food in total. With the help of the Phoenix facilities, OnTrac hopes that not only will they meet their goal, but also that KNIX and St. Vincent de Paul will meet their goal too. The community plays a big part in helping KNIX and St. Vincent de Paul reach their goal. There are multiple locations set up that KNIX will be stationed at to collect donations. Click here for a list of all locations.

OnTrac Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Laura Peterson says, “November is a very exciting time for the OnTrac corporate office because we look forward to being a part of the Million Can Crusade every year. By adding all Valley employees this year, we are hoping to surpass the OnTrac donation of 6,323 cans of food from last year. Joining forces allows us to make a bigger impact and it is such a special thing to be able to help less families go hungry during the holidays.”

In addition to the donation to St. Vincent de Paul, OnTrac is a proud supporter of giving back to the communities where employees live and serve. Since 2014, OnTrac has given monetary donations of $79,124 to a variety of charities within their eight-state footprint. Some of these great causes include the Treasure House Phoenix, Tyrann Mathieu Foundation, United Ostomy Association of American, Habitat for Humanity, North American Nature Photography Association, Salvation Army, and Red Cross. Toys for Tots accepts toy donations and monetary donations through their website, toysfortots.org.

On_Trac_-_26.jpgEric Pivaroff nominated Toys for Tots on behalf of J. De Sigio Construction, Inc., which provides quality water and sewer pipeline installation in Baldwin Park, California and surrounding areas. OnTrac joined KNIX Radio and St. Vincent de Paul in their fight against hunger. 2015 marks the fifth year that OnTrac has supported the Million Can Crusade by organizing a canned food drive at the OnTrac corporate office during the month of November.  In addition, OnTrac donated $1,500 to the cause at the KNIX Kickoff party on November 2, 2015. The donation is equivalent to 15,000 cans and helps bridge the gap to collect a total of one million cans. In total with the monetary donation, OnTrac donated 20,017 cans to Million Can Crusade this year.

KNIX Radio has hosted the million can crusade during the month of November since 2008. #hungersucks is the theme of the campaign in their eighth year. Ben and Matt In The Morning of KNIX Radio sold apparel with the slogan and one hundred percent of the proceeds went towards their goal to collect one million cans. In addition, tickets were sold to a special concert at Whiskey Row in Scottsdale featuring David Nail on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Five dollars of each ticket sold went towards the goal as well. For more information, please visit their website, knixcountry.com/pages/million-can-crusade.

Morning show co-host Matt McAllister said, “During this time of the year, I feel so fortunate to help out in this way. It’s such a blessing to be able to do this for a living.”

“It’s a community effort,” said Ben Campbell, morning show co-host. “Every year it’s gotten a little bit bigger. I never imagined that the first year we’d hit the goal of one million cans or that this year we’d be over two million cans.”

Additional to the canned food drive at OnTrac, there were multiple locations throughout the valley during the month where KNIX Radio collected cans from the community.
