In time for Thanksgiving, 102.5 KNIX announced on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 that the goal of collecting one million cans was reached. A grand total of 2,376,063 cans were donated and will fill St. Vincent de Paul’s community food pantries. “All of us at St. Vincent de Paul are so blessed to have partners like OnTrac that allow us to help so many people in our community, especially during the holiday season,” says Shannon Clancy, associate executive director and chief philanthropy officer from St. Vincent de Paul. “Each dollar and can of food donated not only provides hungry families with the food they need, but also lets them know that they are not alone in their moment of need. We are grateful to our friends at OnTrac who demonstrate the kindness, love and generosity of this community that cares. OnTrac joins the 10th annual 102.5 KNIX Million Can Crusade kickoff event with a check for a $1,500 donation to St. Vincent de Paul, which is equivalent to 15,000 cans of food. The Million Can Crusade, in its tenth year, has received support from OnTrac for seven consecutive years since 2011. The goal for 2017, as it has been every year, is to collect one million cans of non-perishable food for St. Vincent de Paul to feed hungry families during the holiday season.

In previous years, OnTrac has contributed to the one million canned food goal by creating a friendly competition among employees at the corporate office in Chandler, Arizona. This year, OnTrac is expanding the competition to include the two Valley facilities in Phoenix. If at least 5,000 cans are collected by OnTrac, the employees will be rewarded with an office celebration for all three Valley locations. The department with the most cans collected will receive the Golden Can Award. Last year, the corporate office alone collected 6,323 cans of food plus a monetary donation of $1,500, which equaled over 20,000 cans of food in total. With the help of the Phoenix facilities, OnTrac hopes that not only will they meet their goal, but also that KNIX and St. Vincent de Paul will meet their goal too. The community plays a big part in helping KNIX and St. Vincent de Paul reach their goal. There are multiple locations set up that KNIX will be stationed at to collect donations. OnTrac Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Laura Peterson says, “November is a very exciting time for the OnTrac corporate office because we look forward to being a part of the Million Can Crusade every year. By adding all Valley employees this year, we are hoping to surpass the OnTrac donation of 6,323 cans of food from last year. Joining forces allows us to make a bigger impact and it is such a special thing to be able to help less families go hungry during the holidays.”

OnTrac Partners with St. Vincent de Paul to Deliver Hope, Food for Sixth-Annual Million Can Crusade

Posted on Oct 31, 2013 11:06:00 AM

OnTrac and KNIX Million Can Kickoff

OnTrac is proud to support St. Vincent de Paul in their efforts to help Arizona's hungry families this holiday season.

For the sixth year in a row, St. Vincent de Paul will team up with KNIX's morning show team, Ben and Matt, to host the Million Can Crusade.

The Crusade, which will run November 1 – 27, is an effort to collect one million cans of non-perishable food items for St. Vincent de Paul.

"Sometimes people are overwhelmed by the need in our community," Saint Vincent de Paul Executive Director Steve Zabilski said. "But every donation makes a difference. To a struggling family, an emergency food box can go a long way to stretch their household budget so that when all the bills are paid, they can still put food on the table."

OnTrac will be sponsoring 250 boxes across the state of Arizona. The boxes will be placed in 119 Safeway stores throughout the Valley.

"We are truly grateful to be part of the Million Can Crusade for the third year in a row," OnTrac Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Laura Peterson said. "They are a dedicated organization and make a real difference in the community.  We are happy to be able to help."

The Million Can Crusade Kick-Off event was held Friday, November 1, at Safeway store #2644, located at 1855 N Power Rd in Mesa, Arizona, 85207.

In addition to OnTrac, Safeway and Desert Schools Federal Credit Union locations across the state are participating. Donations of canned foods can be dropped off at Safeway locations, while monetary donations can be made at both Safeway and Desert Schools.

The food donated will help fill the shelves of St. Vincent de Paul's network of over 80 parish-based food pantries in central and northern Arizona. Last year, food pantry volunteers delivered nearly 400,000 food boxes to hungry families.svp logo
