OnTrac Delivering Hope to Local Schools

Posted on Oct 9, 2015 9:54:24 AM

OnTrac Delivering Hope to Local SchoolsDuring the month of September, OnTrac delivered backpacks and school supplies to 1,000 elementary, middle and high school students within the Western Region. Thirty-eight school districts and charities were touched by OnTrac Delivering Hope. OnTrac supplied 1,000 backpacks and distributed them to OnTrac operational facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah and Washington. School districts nearest to all of the facilities were chosen to participate. At each facility OnTrac employees donated and filled each backpack with supplies specific to students in kindergarten to 12th grade.

OnTrac is onboard with delivering hope to today’s youth and couldn’t be more excited to help these students succeed in the 2015-2016 school year and beyond. According to the City of Chandler’s website, “Hundreds of children go back to school each year without any school supplies [and] there are more than 8,000 students in the Chandler Unified School District [alone] who attend Title 1 schools.” City of Chandler Community Resources and Diversity Manager Leah Powell says, “It’s local businesses, like OnTrac, whose support helps to bring success to the families and communities that we serve.”

At OnTrac, it’s an important company-wide initiative to support the communities that we live and grow in. “We have a responsibility to give back to local communities and we feel very fortunate to be able to help those in need,” said Dennis Crosby, Commerce General Manager. “Education is everything and if we’re not involved with today’s youth, then we fail as a leader in the community.”

OnTrac_Employee Spotlight

For this week’s employee spotlight, we are pleased to introduce Leon Shaw Jr. 2015 marks his 27th year with OnTrac. In 1988, Leon started working as a Same-Day Messenger Driver in the Los Angeles region as one of the first drivers for the company. The main requirements of his job would be to run linehauls to Kettleman City, San Diego and the LAX Airport. Vice President of Risk Assessment Mark Cronkrite said, “Wherever he was needed he did the job, no questions asked. He worked a lot of hours for a long time, and his dedication to the company helped build this business.”

Leon is an influential part of OnTrac history and helped shape the company to what it is today. In 1997, Leon retired from his driving career to pursue a sorting position at the Commerce Facility in California. This year marks his 18th year sorting at OnTrac. Commerce General Manager Dennis Crosby said, “He’s a dedicated employee who would do anything to protect the success of the company.” When Leon isn’t sorting, you might catch him following up on his favorite basketball team. He’s a big Los Angeles Lakers fan. Thank you Leon for your commitment, dedication and service! We’re happy to have you a part of the OnTrac team.

The OnTrac marketing department is proud to announce the winners of the first ever social media photo contest held during the month of August. The On the Road Again photo contest was on the OnTrac Facebook page, while all other OnTrac social media platforms supported and reminded followers about the contest. We asked entrants to submit their best photo of a road they travelled or their trip destination. The contest ran for a duration of two weeks and ended on Tuesday, August 25th.

As a shipping company, we drive miles and miles every day to deliver packages. From this contest, our goal was to connect with the social media community and focus on how many miles their summer travels took them this year, while also thanking our current followers for their continued support.

Our social media community responded with fantastic photos to fit the contest theme. The photo submissions varied from roads, sunsets, beaches, landscapes to car selfies. Entrants shared photos of their destination and travels in the states as well as vacationing abroad. The photo entries captured various modes of transportation whether by foot, car, plane, and even riding an elephant.

We want to take a moment to thank all of our entrants and everyone who participated in this contest by voting and sharing. This contest has been a great success. We’ve enjoyed seeing everyone’s spectacular photos and the number of miles travelled. On The Road Again photo contest revved 2.2k visits, 37 photo entries, 1,061 votes, and 12 shares. OnTrac $ KNIX Million Can Crusade

OnTrac is proud to support St. Vincent de Paul and KNIX in the Million Can Crusade for the fourth year in a row.

“OnTrac is very passionate about community involvement,” Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Laura Peterson said. “We have the opportunity to help a great cause, and a lot of people, right here in Arizona. That’s important to us.”

At the KNIX Kickoff party, which took place on November 3, 2014, OnTrac donated $1,500.00, the equivalent of 15,000 cans, in support of the campaign’s quest to collect one million cans. Additionally, OnTrac collected more than 2500 cans at its Corporate Headquarters in Chandler, Arizona to assist St. Vincent de Paul in their efforts this holiday season.

The 7th annual Million Can Crusade will benefit more than 80 parish-based food pantries in the community. Food boxes will be delivered to hungry families. Last year, volunteers delivered nearly 400,000 food boxes.

OnTrac Ops Manager Drives for Charity

Posted on Nov 4, 2014 10:36:00 AM

How many longest drive contests have you participated in?

I’ve been doing Long Drive competitions since 2008 and participate in 4-8 events a year. It has been a great hobby for me.

When did you start playing golf?

I started playing golf when I was 13 and was immediately hooked to the game.

How did you get involved in longest drive contests?

Around Christmas in 2007 my sister and I watched the Re/Max World Long Drive on ESPN. As I laughed at the guys yelling at their golf balls I told her it looked easy. My sister, being the motivator and supporter she is, signed me up that following spring. I soon realized it wasn’t that easy to not yell at your golf ball.

Can you talk a little bit about your number 2 ranking at the 2011 Re/Max World Long Drive Championship?

2011 was a very successful year for me. My confidence was built up from finishing in top 5 for 5 of the 6 events I did prior to the World Finals. As the 2011 World Finals came and went, I ended up just short of my goal of being #1 in the world. My longest ball during the World Finals was 437 yards. Although I’ve still been unsuccessful of winning the Super Bowl of Long Drive, I’m happy my ranking hasn’t fallen out of the top 10.

What other tournaments/contests have you participated in?

I don’t really golf as much as I did before so outside of Long Drive my participation is minimal.

There have been a few opportunities to use your skills to give back – can you talk a little bit about that?

The golf course is a great place to host charity events. I’ve been able to participate in a few. I’m normally on the tee box of a par 5 or long par 4 and anyone that has golfed before knows distance makes the game that much more difficult. My job is to be the golfer’s therapist and ease the stress by making what was a long par 4 into a putt for eagle.

OnTrac Delivers Hope at Yoga for Hope

OnTrac supports City of Hope at Fourth Annual Yoga for Hope

If you ask people who have achieved any kind of success who their biggest inspiration was, or who has had the most profound influence when it came to success in their life, you might find a majority would say it was their mother.

For OnTrac Corporate Account Manager Nina Hegyi, that answer is always bittersweet.

“I lost my Mom when I was young and was robbed of so many lessons and too many years of celebrating her,” she said. “So, that’s the bitter part.”

But here is the sweet part – in that time, Hegyi’s mom was able to pass on some knowledge.

“She did a lot in the little time she had,” Hegyi said. “Even though my Mom did not have a long time to download all her knowledge to me she did pass on a wealth of wisdom that has helped me in so many ways to become successful.”

One of those is her willingness to volunteer, to give back and to continue fighting for the cure to a disease that took her mother too soon.

For the last four years, the City of Hope has hosted Yoga for Hope, an event that brings together yoga beginners and experts to raise awareness of the benefits of yoga for patients with life-threatening illnesses.

This year, Hegyi, and team Delivering Hope, will come together to raise money and participate in the Yoga for Hope event held on June 7 at Petco Park in San Diego.

“For us, this is personal,” she said. “And for so many others like us, it’s personal too. You just feel powerless when a loved one gets a horrible disease. You feel powerless and hopeless when they are taken away. And they are always taken away too soon.”

Hegyi has been on the Women’s Council for City of Hope for 10 years and the OnTrac team, Delivering Hope, will be fundraising in the area and donating funds to support the event.

OnTrac Material Handling Improves Efficiency in Southern California

Posted on Jun 25, 2013 1:06:00 PM

As a part of OnTrac’s continued effort to improve the quality and efficiency of our customer’s shipping experience, the company has launched an initiative that will include installing material handling systems in all of our facilities and expanded operations in its San Diego facility.

The facility, located at 7077 Consolidated Way #G, San Diego, CA. 92121, increased more than 40,000 square feet from its previous location. The building has 18 dock doors positioned for both inbound and out bound loads that will be picking up and delivering in the San Diego area.

With the expanded San Diego location, OnTrac will be adding additional sorters, projects and increase the number of service providers to the San Diego area.

As a compliment to its effort to increase the operation in San Diego, OnTrac installed a material handling system. This decision enables OnTrac to improve the customer experience and reduce the number of handles per package.

                                  Material Handing OnTrac

Benefits of Material Handling in San Diego

  • The new material handling system will improve operational capacity, process rate, and improve efficiency to service our customers in the San Diego area.
  • The expanded San Diego building will increase OnTrac’s package flow and double the sort capacity.
  • The facility services the cities of Escondido, Bonsall, Fallbrook, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, Ramona, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, La Costa, Mira Mesa, San Diego, National City, San Ysidro, Chula Vista, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and Mission Valley.

From San Diego, OnTrac delivers overnight to every ZIP Code in California and the major metropolitan areas of Arizona and Nevada, with two-day service to Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado and Idaho.

Faster deliveries and more aggressive rates are a welcome concept for any business these days. These upgrades come as a direct response to the increasing number of businesses choosing OnTrac for all their overnight shipping, and guaranteed delivery needs.  OnTrac is proud to offer the highest quality of service at the most competitive rates.
